Μπάλος - Γραμβούσα

The famous lagoon of Balos is located approximately 56km northwest of Chania. Balos is surely the mostly photographed beach in Crete, a very favourite subject of all tourist guides for Greece.

Ελαφονήσι

Elafonisi is located 76km west of Chania and 5km south of Chrysoskalitisa Monastery, in the southwesternmost point of Crete. Elafonisi is an oblong, which often “breaks” in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. Elafonisi is a Natura 2000 protected area.

The Samaria Gorge is the longest gorge in Europe and also the most famous. Thousands of tourists flock here daily in the summer season to walk from the top to the bottom. For many visitors, it is the sole purpose of their visit to Crete.

Phaistos, or more correctly the Minoan Palace of Phaistos, is located in south-central Crete, the Messara plain, 55 km south of Heraklion and a short distance from the archaeological site of Agia Triada, the archaeological site at Gortyna and Matala .

Μάταλα

Matala is located 68km southwest of Heraklion, on the boundaries of the plain Messara and Asteroussia Mountains. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Crete and certainly the most famous beach of Heraklion.

Πρέβελη, Φαράγγι Κουρταλιώτης, Μοναστήρι

Preveli is located about 35km south of Rethymno. Beach of Preveli, also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenix, is located at the exit of the imposing Kourtaliotikos Gorge, where the Great River (Megas Potamos) is flowing.It is certainly the most famous beach in southern Crete.

Kournas Lake is actually the only large natural lake in Crete and is located in an enchanting landscape, surrounded by high mountains and olive groves. It is located near the village Kournas, 2.5km south of the beach of Georgioupolis.

Cretaquarium – Thalassocosmos is one of the most important aquariums in Europe. It started its operation in December 2005 in the former American Base of Gournes and immediately became a pole of attraction for thousands of visitors.

Knossos

Knossos is one of the most important cultural attractions not only in Crete, but also throughout the world. So the island are the remains of the largest palace of Minoan civilization. In this palace lived Minos, who was born from the union of Zeus with Europe.

The lovely serene little town of Agios Nikolaos is the cosmopolitan capital of the prefecture of Lasithi with 20000 permanent residents. The town is built on the west side of the Gulf of Mirabello.

Falassarna beach is a long sandy beach with wonderful sunsets. It has been voted for Best Beach of Greece. There are several beaches in the Falassarna bay.
